2010 in Review

We had a great turnout and a fantastic time in our first ever Yorktown Roadrunners summer youth running club!  A total of 34 youth members joined and participated in at least some of our activities.  Nineteen members (and several parents) attended our mid-summer Wilderness Trail Run and Picnic at Mounds State Park.  Seven members completed the 5k Challenge at the end of the season.  We also had 16 members who earned special awards for the efforts and participation over the summer.

Yorktown Roadrunners 2010 Award Winners

Commitment awards were earned by 13 members who participated in at least 12 of our 17 workouts and events over the summer.  Commitment award recipients were: Dylan Ayres, Ryan Ayres, Anna Childs, Olivia Durrer, Tara Horst, Jessica Llamas, Mirella Llamas, Shawn Llamas, Abby Mickle, Kirill Mizernyuk, James Roysdon, Robby Sammelson, and Silas VanOoteghem.

Gold Awards were earned by 3 runners who ran over 60 miles (both in our workouts and on their own) over the course of our 15 week summer season.  Gold Award recipients were: Anna Childs, Lauren Elston, and Sam Smith.

Silver Awards were earned by 6 runners who ran between 45 and 59 miles (both in our workouts and on their own) over the course of our 15 week summer season.  Silver Award recipients were: Madeline Aul, Dylan Ayres, Ryan Ayres, Tara Horst, Robby Sammelson, and Silas VanOoteghem.

Bronze Awards were earned by 8 runners who ran between 30 and 44 miles (both in our workouts and on their own) over the course of our 15 week summer season.  Bronze Awards recipients were: Olivia Durrer, Jessica Llamas, Mirella Llamas, Shawn Llamas, Abby Mickle, Kirill Mizernyuk, Kelsey Morgan, and James Roysdon.

5k Challenge Awards were earned by 7 runners who completed the Dick Lugar 5k Run at Butler University on September 18.  5k Challenge Award recipients were:  Madeline Aul, Dylan Ayres, Ryan Ayres, Anna Childs, Olivia Durrer, Tara Horst, and Silas VanOoteghem.

Congratulations to all of award winners!  Thank you to all of our members who joined Yorktown Roadrunners and participated in some capacity over the summer.  We look forward to seeing you again next summer.  We also want to thank all of the parents for registering their kids and bringing them to our workouts and events throughout the summer... especially those who helped us with various things.
